REGIONAL AUTHORITIES.
Regional Development Authorities should focus on research and feasibility studies to identify viable investment opportunities in their areas of jurisdiction and realign development plans to value addition and agri - processing to provide ready markets for small scale producers instead of competing with them, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Regional Development Eng. Carey Orege has said.

RESTRUCTURING OF THE SIX REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITIES (RDAS)
The ministry has embarked on restructuring of the Regional Development Authorities to provide them with effective and efficient systems and structures that will ensure optimal performance of the Authorities as critical instruments for Regional Development in Kenya. 
Ministrys Strategic Plan 2008 - 2012
This Strategic Plan covers the period 2008-2012 and is aimed at guiding the Ministry of Regional Development Authorities in the delivery of its mandate that includes policy guidance, capacity building, and oversight in the management and support to Regional Development Authorities (RDAs). The Strategic Plan anchors its strategic thrust on Kenya Vision 2030 and Medium Term Plan and directs the ministry to focus on integrated regional development initiatives and up-scaling of RDAs’ ongoing programmes.It is through this plan that the ministry will rally concerted efforts from all

Ministry Mandate
Regional development is critical to poverty reduction. Effective planning, development and implementation of integrated and multi-purpose programmes and projects will significantly contribute to regional-balanced development through employment creation, equitable distribution of resources including food security as well as urban-rural balance. The Ministry of Regional Development Authorities(MoRDA) has the mandate to provide: policy guidance; capacity building and support; and management oversight and support to Regional Development Authorities (RDAs).
